BYRON SCARFE FROM PEMBROKE SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR HISTORIC SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TWO GIRLS
A man residing in Pembroke, Byron Scarfe of Rowlands Way, has been handed a significant prison sentence of 12 years after being convicted of serious historic sexual offences involving two young girls aged nine and 11. The court proceedings revealed that Scarfe was responsible for raping one of the girls on two separate occasions and sexually assaulting the other girl, with these disturbing acts taking place over a period of several years.During the trial, the prosecution presented compelling evidence that ultimately proved Scarfe's guilt, despite his attempts to deny the allegations. The court heard how the offences had been committed over an extended timeframe, causing profound trauma to the victims and their families. The evidence included testimonies and possibly forensic or other investigative findings that left little doubt about his culpability.
Judge Huw Davies delivered a stern judgment, describing Scarfe as 'evil, callous and cowardly,' emphasizing the heinous nature of his crimes. The judge also ordered that Scarfe be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his actions and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
In his remarks, Judge Davies highlighted the lifelong impact these crimes would have on the victims, acknowledging the breach of trust and innocence that had been shattered. The sentencing reflects the court’s recognition of the gravity of sexual offences against minors and the importance of protecting vulnerable members of society from repeat offenders.
