BRUCE WEBSTER'S VIOLENT RAMPAGE IN DUNDEE: SHOCKING DOMESTIC ABUSE CASES REVEAL HORRIFIC ATTACKS

A man from Dundee, Bruce Webster, who has been identified as a perpetrator of severe domestic abuse and violent assaults against two former partners, has narrowly avoided a prison sentence despite the gravity of his actions. The incidents, which took place within the city of Dundee, have left a trail of trauma and fear among the victims, highlighting the ongoing issue of domestic violence in the area.

One of Webster’s victims, a woman who had been in a relationship with him for approximately a year, recounted a terrifying ordeal that unfolded at her home shortly after she returned from a music festival. In the early hours of the morning, Webster arrived at her residence, banging loudly on her door and refusing to leave despite her pleas. The woman attempted to call emergency services, but Webster responded violently, smashing her phone on his head, causing it to bend out of shape. During the confrontation, she was pushed onto a dog cage, which then collapsed to the floor.

According to the court proceedings, Webster continued shouting accusations of infidelity, and despite her begging him to leave, he physically assaulted her. He forcefully threw her to the ground, then grabbed her by the throat, pinning her against a wall in her living room before violently throwing her across the room. She fell onto the arm of a sofa, and Webster, in a threatening manner, leaned close to her face and said, “Idiot, everything is your fault.”

The victim, in a state of terror, attempted to kick Webster to defend herself, but he laughed at her. She managed to escape barefoot and sought refuge with a friend of her mother across the street. The aftermath of the attack was compounded by Webster’s threatening behavior in the days following, as he bombarded her with 55 missed calls and 93 Facebook messages, in which he made violent threats, including statements like “Gonna cause murder if I find out you are seeing other people behind my back” and “Are you warning your new lad as I am away to slit his throat.”

Another woman, who was Webster’s partner from 2021, also suffered physical abuse after they moved in together. Following a night of drinking, Webster sat on top of her and then grabbed her throat, causing her to fear for her life. She described feeling terrified, believing he wanted to kill her. Webster later expressed remorse, crying and apologizing, claiming he wanted to kill himself. The situation escalated further when she discovered Webster in an intimate setting with another woman, which prompted him to pin her against a wall with his forearm. He also spat on her, threw water on her, and repeatedly kicked and punched her. When she tried to escape, Webster allegedly dragged her back by her clothing.

Both women’s accounts were corroborated in court, and Webster, of Brown Constable Street in Dundee, admitted to two charges of domestic abuse spanning from 2019 to 2023. The court heard that Webster’s behavior was driven by alcohol and emotional instability, and his victims were described as faultless in the proceedings.

Solicitor Mike Short urged the sheriff to consider a community-based order instead of imprisonment, emphasizing Webster’s need for education and behavioral intervention. He highlighted that Webster had not offended since the incidents and had a short criminal record, supported by a positive social work report.

In sentencing, Sheriff Alastair Carmichael acknowledged the seriousness of the crimes but also considered the potential for rehabilitation. Webster was placed under supervision for 20 months, ordered to complete 220 hours of unpaid work, and subjected to a five-month restriction of liberty order from 7 pm to 7 am. Additionally, the court imposed seven-year non-harassment orders to protect each of the victims from further contact with Webster, aiming to prevent any future harm within the Dundee community.
