BRIAN TROOD FROM CORSHAM SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG BOYS IN WILTSHIRE

In a case that has shocked the local community, Scout leader and former RAF Squadron Leader Brian Trood, aged 45, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after admitting to a series of disturbing sexual assaults committed against young boys in the year 1999.

Trood, a father of two daughters, was a well-known figure in Corsham and the surrounding areas, and his arrest has sent ripples through the community that once looked up to him.

The allegations against Trood came to light during investigations into his conduct, revealing that he had engaged in inappropriate and criminal behavior towards two boys under the age of 14.

The incidents reportedly took place in 1999, a time when Trood was actively involved in his role as a scout leader, a position that made his actions particularly heinous given the trust placed in him by families and the community.

During court proceedings, Trood pleaded guilty to four charges: two counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency.

He, however, denied two additional charges alleging that he had abducted the boys, and these charges were subsequently left on file, meaning they could potentially be revisited or used in future proceedings.

The court heard that Trood, who was also a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force based at Rudloe Manor in Wiltshire, was driven away from Swindon Crown Court without making any comments to the press or the public.

Judge John McNaught, presiding over the case, issued a stern warning to Trood, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the likelihood of a prison sentence.

The judge stated, “In cases like this, a prison sentence is almost inevitable,” underscoring the gravity of the offenses and the breach of trust involved.

At the time of his arrest and court appearance, Trood was released on bail, awaiting sentencing scheduled for four weeks later.

His background as a respected RAF officer and community figure contrasted sharply with the allegations and his subsequent guilty plea, highlighting the tragic betrayal of trust that had occurred.

The case has left many in Corsham and the wider Wiltshire area questioning how someone in such a prominent position could commit such acts.

Trood’s actions have not only resulted in his imprisonment but have also caused lasting damage to the victims and their families, as well as to the reputation of the community he once served.
