CHRISTOPHER YOUNGER FROM CORSHAM SENTENCED FOR ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION IN SWINDON

Christopher Younger, a 47-year-old resident of Pickwick Road in Corsham, has been sentenced following a serious incident involving his partner. The case was heard at Swindon Crown Court, where it was revealed that Younger had physically assaulted and strangled a woman in her 40s, an act that brought him into legal trouble.

Initially, Younger entered a plea of not guilty to charges of assault by beating and intentional strangulation. However, on 6 May, he changed his plea to guilty, acknowledging the severity of his actions. The court proceedings culminated on 10 June 2025, when Younger was handed a two-year prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period.

In addition to the suspended sentence, the court ordered Younger to participate in a 25-day rehabilitation activity programme aimed at addressing behavioural issues. He was also instructed to abstain from alcohol consumption for a period of three months, a condition intended to support his rehabilitation process. Furthermore, a restraining order was put in place to ensure the safety of the victim, restricting Younger from making any contact with her.

This case highlights the ongoing issues of domestic violence and the legal measures taken to protect victims while also providing offenders with opportunities for rehabilitation. The court’s decision reflects a combination of punitive and rehabilitative approaches, emphasizing the seriousness of such offences and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals in the community.
