PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR FILMING TEENAGE GIRLS IN SHOWER
A paedophile has been jailed for filming teenage girls in the shower.
Brian Quarmby, 67, of Thornhill, cut holes in a box and set up an iPhone inside it to record them on separate occasions.
The girls, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were under the age of 13 for most of the offences, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Quarmby claimed he thought the girls might have been posting ‘intimate photos on social media’ after finding an item in one girl’s possession.
The judge described this as an ‘unacceptable and unbelievable’ excuse and an ‘abuse of trust’ and sentenced him to 15 months’ imprisonment, of which he will serve half before being released on licence for 12 months.
Quarmby was also ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register and to comply with a sexual harm prevention order prohibiting him from contacting or communicating with any children.
He pleaded guilty to five counts of voyeurism and not guilty to two counts of making indecent images.
The court heard victims’ statements expressing shock and suffering, and seeing his photo in the media brings back memories and affects sleep.
