MAN JAILED FOR RAPING TEEN ON CLIFFTOP IN NEW MILTON
A MAN has been jailed after he "selfishly and brutally" raped a teen girl on a Hampshire clifftop.Brian Nutt, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court for raping the teenager after he was found guilty by a jury.
He is already serving a sentence until 2028 for a stabbing which took place in Bournemouth in June 2023.
Nutt, now 22, was 18 at the time of the incident.
She "fancied" him, but nothing had ever happened between them.
In August 2021, Nutt, the victim and a small group of friends met at Beckton Bunny in New Milton for a social gathering.
Nutt brought 24 cans of Budweiser and a small bottle of vodka for the group, all of which was consumed by 9.30pm, by which point most people had left.
The defendant also shared cannabis with the victim and one other friend.
When the other friend left, Nutt began consensually kissing the victim, before deciding he wanted sex.
Prosecuting, Richard Tutt described how the defendant then raped her.
"She repeatedly said 'stop, I don't like it' and 'ow' but he laughed and told her to be quiet," Mr Tutt said.
The court heard how he put his hand around her neck and pushed her down.
She was crying during most of it, the court heard, and her body went “into numb mode” as her head was pushed into the sand.
The victim gave a statement to court, where she said: "What Brian did to me can never be forgiven or forgotten.
"It’s a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life." She described how the event had affected her education and she found it difficult to socialise due to "fear and worry".
It also affected her family life and she was unable to feel safe in her own home.
"You made me feel so dirty and nauseous when I saw my body," she said, "you're nothing but a sad and pathetic little boy.
"You're a disgusting individual who deserves nothing but the worst in life.
"I am rebuilding my life now and I am not going to let what you did to me define me." Defending, Nick Robinson described how Nutt was "in a terrible place at the time of the offence".
Nutt had grown up with his mother addicted to Class A drugs, and she died as a result of an overdose.
The court heard how he was "sincerely sorry" to the victim.
Sentencing, Her Honour Judge Evans KC said: "You had no care whatsoever for what she wanted or how she felt.
"You selfishly and brutally did what you wanted to do regardless of her welfare.
The long term effect on her is likely to be a lifetime." Judge Evans KC sentenced Nutt with a five years consecutive prison sentence.
