COLCHESTER MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE OFFENCES AFTER STANWAY INCIDENT
A man identified as 54-year-old Brian Lyttle has been formally charged with multiple serious offences following a significant incident in Stanway, Colchester.Police attended the scene at an address on Warren Lane on Friday and responded with a large emergency services effort that included forensic teams.
The suspect was arrested after police entered the property to ensure everyone inside was safe and accounted for.
He was subsequently charged with three counts of false imprisonment, engaging in coercive and controlling behavior, making threats to kill, causing actual bodily harm, attempting to commit a serious sexual assault, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon or bladed article.
Lyttle was questioned by police and is scheduled to appear before Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The police response was triggered by concerns for the welfare of individuals at the scene, and neighbours observed police and ambulance services present, expressing worry over the length of police presence.
A police spokesman confirmed the charges and said the man would appear in court soon.
