BRIAN LORIMER'S SHOCKING ATTACK IN PERTH GYM: WOMAN BUNDLED INTO TUMBLE DRYER AND SENT OBSCENE TEXTS

A disturbing incident involving a former employee of Bannantyne’s gym in Perth has come to light, revealing a violent and deeply troubling assault on a female colleague. Brian Lorimer, who was dismissed from his position at the fitness center, was involved in an aggressive confrontation that culminated in him physically assaulting the woman and forcibly placing her inside an industrial tumble dryer. The incident took place within the gym’s laundry area, a space typically used for cleaning gym linens and towels, but which became the scene of a serious criminal act.

According to court proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court, Lorimer, a 51-year-old resident of Rannoch Road in Perth, was captured on record as having picked up his female colleague and forcibly placed her inside the dryer. Witnesses testified that Lorimer then called out to another employee, instructing them to come and take a photograph of the scene. This act of recording the assault added a disturbing layer to the incident, highlighting a pattern of reckless and inappropriate behavior.

It was established that Lorimer had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the same woman on September 23 of the previous year. The court also heard that just a few days after the assault, Lorimer sent the woman a series of text messages, many of which contained sexually explicit and menacing content, further demonstrating his troubling attitude towards her. The woman, who attended court to give her testimony, expressed her feelings of extreme anxiety and distress caused by Lorimer’s actions.

During the court hearing, prosecutor Andrew Harding explained that both the victim and the accused were working within the laundry room on September 23 or 24. At that time, a third employee was present in a different part of the room. Without warning, Lorimer suddenly seized the woman and placed her inside an industrial dryer. The court was shown evidence that Lorimer then shouted to the other employee to come and take a photograph of the incident, clearly indicating that he was aware of the severity of his actions and was intentionally recording the event.

The court also heard that the woman attempted to escape from the dryer, trying to climb out as Lorimer’s assault unfolded. On September 26, Lorimer sent her a text message that was deemed to be indecent, obscene, or menacing in nature, which she eventually blocked to prevent further contact. The victim described feeling extremely anxious and fearful due to Lorimer’s conduct.

In her sentencing remarks, Sheriff Euan Duthie condemned Lorimer’s behavior, stating that he displayed an “appalling attitude towards women.” The sheriff emphasized that such conduct was highly concerning and indicative of a pattern of troubling behavior. While Lorimer was not sentenced to jail, he was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid community work. Additionally, he was placed under supervision for a period of one year and was issued a two-year non-harassment order to prevent any further contact with the victim.

This case underscores the serious nature of workplace violence and harassment, and the court’s decision reflects the need to protect individuals from such disturbing acts of aggression and intimidation in the workplace.
