SHEFFIELD MAN HANDED SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR VILE ONLINE CHATS.
A Sheffield man has been sentenced after being caught engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with what he believed to be a child.Brian Lloyd, who was arrested on 15 August 2022, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on 4 April 2025.
He was found guilty of online grooming and sexual communication with a child, as well as attempting to coerce a person he thought was underage into sending explicit images.
He also admitted to receiving indecent material from what he believed to be a minor.
The court imposed the following sentence: An eight-month prison term, suspended for two years.
200 hours of unpaid work under supervision.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years with conditions attached.
A 12-month rehabilitation activity requirement, capped at 60 days.
A requirement to register with police for 10 years starting from 4 April 2025.
The sting operation was carried out by members of FEUK with the support of decoys and hunters who helped gather evidence against Lloyd.
The case highlights the ongoing dangers of online grooming and the critical role of investigative groups in exposing offenders.
