WINDSOR MAN BRIAN COLE CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN CHESHUNT AND LONDON

In a significant legal development, Brian Cole, a 62-year-old resident of Windsor, has been found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of 35 years in the areas of Cheshunt and London. The conviction was handed down by a jury at St Albans Crown Court on January 19, following a trial that lasted several days.

Throughout the proceedings, the court heard harrowing testimonies from Cole’s victims, who, due to legal restrictions, cannot be publicly identified. One young girl, who was only seven years old at the time of the abuse, recounted her traumatic experiences. She described how Cole would attempt to kiss her on the lips, then shift to her neck and cheeks, trying to manipulate her into feeling affection. When she tried to distance herself, Cole allegedly coerced her with the words, ‘show me more love.’

She further detailed a disturbing incident where Cole made her bend over a sofa, covering her face with a pillow, and she vividly remembered the sound of him unzipping his trousers, a detail that left a lasting impression of fear and confusion.

Additional witnesses testified that Cole was seen engaging in inappropriate behavior, including kissing the girl on the lips and examining her as she walked away, with one witness describing how he was seen intertwining his fingers with hers and looking her up and down.

Another victim, who was only six or seven years old at the time, revealed that Cole had touched her inappropriately. She expressed her fear and shock, stating, “He was touching me, he touched me down below. I was scared and shocked — I can’t explain it but it didn’t make me feel good.” She admitted that her silence was due to fear, believing no one would believe her.

The court also learned that Cole had a prior conviction from Snaresbrook Crown Court in 2014 for indecent assault on a girl and possession of indecent images of children. It was revealed that Cole would give his young victims sweets to lure them into sitting on his lap, further illustrating a pattern of predatory behavior.

During the trial, Cole’s defense attorney, David Smithet, did not request bail pending sentencing, acknowledging the gravity of the case. Judge Marie Catterson expressed her concern about the risk of Cole failing to surrender, given his criminal history and the nature of the convictions. She commended the jury for their service, which began on January 8.

It was also disclosed that Cole has a previous conviction for manslaughter, for which he served seven years in prison, although this was a long time ago. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 2 at St Albans Crown Court, where Cole will face the consequences of his actions and the court’s judgment on his future.
