BRANDON HEWLETT SENTENCED IN GOOLE FOR RAPE OFFENSES IN YORK
In a recent court ruling, Brandon Hewlett, a resident of Edinburgh Street in Goole, East Yorkshire, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for serious sexual offenses committed in York several years prior.The case highlighted the courage of the young victim, who came forward to testify against Hewlett, despite the emotional and psychological toll such proceedings often entail.

The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the fourth rape charge, leading the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to decide not to pursue a retrial on that particular count, resulting in Hewlett’s formal acquittal on that charge.
Throughout the proceedings, the court was presented with a personal statement from the victim, who described the profound and lasting impact Hewlett’s actions had on her.
The court heard that the victim’s experience had caused significant psychological harm, a point emphasized by Recorder Tahir Khan during the sentencing.
The judge stated explicitly that he believed Hewlett’s actions inflicted genuine emotional damage on the victim, underscoring the severity of the crimes.
In delivering the sentence, Recorder Tahir Khan emphasized the gravity of Hewlett’s offenses, sentencing him to seven and a half years in prison.
Additionally, Hewlett was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.
The judge also noted that if Hewlett had been older at the time of the crimes, the sentence could have been as long as ten years, reflecting the seriousness with which the court viewed his actions.
