BRADLEY SIMPSON'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN DUNDEE: DOG MURDER AND VIOLENCE REVEALED

In June 2022, a disturbing case unfolded in Dundee involving Bradley Simpson, a man with a long and troubling criminal history.

Simpson appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court via video link from Perth prison to face charges related to the brutal killing of his family’s pet dog, Buddy.

The incident took place on April 1 of that year, and the details of the attack shocked the local community.

According to court reports, Simpson admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the German shepherd, which belonged to his mother, Maureen Murdoch.

The animal was subjected to a savage attack with a screwdriver, during which Simpson repeatedly stabbed Buddy.

The aftermath of this horrific act was equally disturbing; Buddy’s remains were discovered burned and buried in a shallow grave within a public park in Dundee.

Witnesses who later found the site described a scorched patch of ground near a mound of disturbed soil, which appeared to have been recently dug.

When the soil was scraped back, the charred remains of the dog were uncovered, confirming that Buddy was the victim.

Prior to the attack, Buddy had been in the family home, and the family had gone to bed that night unaware of the tragedy that was about to unfold.

The following morning, Maureen Murdoch noticed her dog was missing, prompting her to post an alert on a local social media platform.

A search was initiated by several community members, but the true extent of the horror was only revealed later.

Mrs.

Murdoch observed a pool of blood at her doorstep and blood splatters within the living room and kitchen, indicating a violent struggle.

Further investigation outside revealed additional blood spattering on the side of the house, raising alarm and suspicion.

Simpson was questioned about the incident and made disturbing comments, including references to killing the dog and telling his family they would never see him again.

During the court proceedings, Simpson disclosed that he was inspired to commit the act after watching a Netflix series centered around rescue dogs, a revelation that added a chilling layer to the case.

It was also noted that Simpson had been released on bail five times prior to this incident, despite his extensive criminal record.

His past convictions include domestic abuse, under-age sexual offenses, theft, and assault resulting in permanent disfigurement.

The court was informed that Simpson had already been made a target in prison, which contributed to the decision to further defer his sentencing.

His defense solicitor, Carolyn Leckie, requested a one-week adjournment to allow for a fresh review of his case, and Sheriff Gregor Murray agreed to this, postponing the sentencing hearing.

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Simpson’s criminal history includes a 2017 conviction when he was 19 for engaging in sexual activity with a young girl.

The offense occurred in May 2014, when Simpson was just 16 years old, at a property in Dundee.

He was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid community work and placed under supervision for 12 months.

Further back in April 2015, Simpson was involved in a violent incident in Dundee where he assaulted a man named Peter Smith.

Simpson, then 17, struck Mr.

Smith with a brick during an argument in Findowrie Street, leaving him with a permanent scar and a head injury that required stitches.

The incident was part of a broader pattern of violent behavior, which also included an assault on another individual, Barry Simpson, aged 26, who threatened to damage property and brandished a brick during a confrontation in Fintry.

Both Simpson and Barry Simpson appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court, with their cases deferred for sentencing.

Bradley Simpson’s criminal record paints a picture of a man with a history of violence and disturbing behavior, making his recent actions all the more alarming.

The community and authorities continue to grapple with the implications of his actions, which have left a trail of trauma and heartbreak in Dundee.
