2019: LOVESICK BRADLEY ROBERTSON JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON HIS EX
Bradley Robertson, a 22-year-old from Halesowen, received a two-year prison sentence after committing a violent assault on his former partner, which involved punching, kicking, and stamping. At the time, Robertson was subject to a restraining order that prohibited any contact with her, yet he forcibly entered her Oldbury residence.
Prosecutor Edward Soulsby explained that Robertson, upset over their seven-month relationship ending, repeatedly urged her to show affection before grabbing her by the throat.
He then threw her against a wall, shouting questions like, "Why don't you want to be with me?" as reported by Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Despite the woman and her friend managing to remove him from the house, Robertson returned through the back door, punched her again, and proceeded to stamp on her face.
It was also noted that Robertson had previously been issued a restraining order because of previous aggressive behavior towards the woman.
After stepping back, he rushed forward and kicked her in the ribs.
Following the incident, Robertson sent threatening texts claiming she was still meant to be with him and expressed that he loved her.
He, of Bloomfield Street North, pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order twice and to assaulting her causing actual bodily harm.
In a victim impact statement, his ex-partner told police that his actions left her unable to live normally and that she remained fearful for her safety.
Defense lawyer Stephen Cadwaladr described Robertson as immature and said he was in a highly emotional state during the incident.
He accepted their relationship was over and assured there would be no further contact.
Judge James Burbidge QC remarked that Robertson showed an inappropriate attitude towards women and that the injuries inflicted were relatively minor.
He stressed the importance of the courts in protecting women and noted his concern that Robertson believed she still wanted to see him when he visited her home.
