BOGDAN DUBIEL MADELEY CRUELTY: 74-YEAR-OLD SENTENCED FOR ABUSING WIFE OF 51 YEARS IN MADELEY

Bogdan Dubiel, a 74-year-old resident of Madeley, has been formally sentenced after a series of disturbing incidents involving his wife, whom he has been married to for over five decades. The court heard that Dubiel subjected his wife to a relentless pattern of coercive and controlling behavior, which included physical violence, verbal abuse, and threatening actions that left lasting scars on their relationship.

One particularly troubling episode occurred on his wife’s birthday, during which Dubiel forcibly dragged her out of a car and, in the process, broke her finger. This act of violence was not isolated, as the court was also informed that he had threatened to stab her, creating an environment of constant fear and intimidation. In another alarming incident, Dubiel held a knife to his own neck, warning that the next time he would involve the police over her alleged stabbing of him, further illustrating the volatile nature of their interactions.

The court proceedings revealed a pattern of aggressive and demeaning conduct by Dubiel. He was accused of pushing his wife over in their living room and subjecting her to repeated verbal assaults. Prosecutor Fiona Cortese detailed how Dubiel would belittle his wife, expecting her to handle all household chores while simultaneously being verbally aggressive towards her. The ongoing abuse and threats compelled the victim to relocate to a different residence out of fear for her safety.

In court, Dubiel pleaded guilty to charges of controlling and coercive behavior. As part of his sentence, he received an 11-month prison term and was issued a restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with his wife. Defense attorney Kelly Cyples mentioned that Dubiel is beginning to show early signs of dementia but also has the support of his family following his release from custody.
