BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR CHRISTMAS DAY ASSAULT ON GIRLFRIEND
Billy Pryce, 28, was involved in a violent Christmas Day attack against his girlfriend after he noticed her using her phone.According to Leeds Crown Court, he became angry and launched a vicious assault while in the car.
Prosecutor David Ward stated, "They argued and he repeatedly punched her to the face...He saw her on the phone and accused her of contacting other men.
He pulled over and punched her she said around ten times to the face and body then used a gas cannister at home to hit her further." The court revealed Pryce's brother, who was in the backseat, attempted to intervene but did not succeed.
Pryce's violent behavior continued with a second attack on January 7, during another argument in the same car, during which he punched her again, leaving her with black eyes, lumps, and bruises, which she documented with photographs.
Pryce, of Hammond Square in Bradford, denied the charges but admitted to two counts of assault by beating and one of assault causing actual bodily harm at the magistrates' court.
It was also revealed that Pryce had prior convictions and was on license for aggravated burglary, for which he received a five-year sentence in 2021.
Mitigation lawyer Safaraz Ahad argued that Pryce's guilty pleas and remorsefulness were factors in his favor, highlighting his efforts to use his time productively by serving food, working as a wing cleaner, and continuing education.
However, His Honour Judge Simon Batiste sentenced Pryce to two years in prison, condemning his actions and noting his extensive violent record.
The judge also observed that since Pryce was recalled on his previous sentence, which is due to end in 2026, the new sentence would be effectively ineffective, as it could not run consecutively to his current recall.
