BILL MIDDELDITCH FROM CHADWELL HEATH: SHOCKING PAST REVEALED IN ESSEX NEIGHBORHOOD
In the quiet suburb of Chadwell Heath, Essex, residents are now confronted with the disturbing truth about a man they believed to be an ordinary family man. Bill Middleditch, aged 56 and weighing approximately 16 stones, has lived a seemingly normal life alongside his wife and their 19-year-old son. However, beneath this facade lies a dark history of heinous crimes that have shocked the local community and cast a shadow over his reputation. It has emerged that Middleditch has previously served time in prison for a series of grave offenses involving minors. His criminal record includes convictions for raping a 12-year-old girl, indecently assaulting two young sisters, and taking explicit photographs of children. These crimes, committed years ago, have left a lasting scar on the victims and have now come to light, raising questions about his current standing in the neighborhood.
Back in 1978, Middleditch was sentenced to eight years in prison following a four-day trial at Ipswich Crown Court. The court heard harrowing details of his terrifying sexual assault on a young girl, which led to his conviction. Later, in November 1989, he received an additional five-year jail term at Snaresbrook Crown Court after admitting to indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl and her six-year-old sister, as well as taking indecent photographs of them. These convictions highlight a pattern of predatory behavior that has haunted his past.
Despite his criminal history, Middleditch's name is not registered on the official paedophile register. He claims that he has not volunteered to be listed, citing concerns about the impact on his life. “I just want to live a normal life,” he stated. “If my name went on the register it would stop me trying to make amends for what I have done. I would be driven out anywhere I moved, and that would just make it harder for me to live like a normal person. I made mistakes and paid for them. Now I have a right to start again.”
He maintains that he keeps to himself and interacts politely with neighbors. “I try to keep myself to myself. I say hello to the kids in the street and they say hello to me. But I never go out alone. My wife is always with me so I can’t be accused of doing anything wrong,” Middleditch explained. Despite his efforts to appear harmless, his demeanor was described as casual and unrepentant, lounging in a dirty dressing gown and smoking a cigarette.
In a chilling statement, Middleditch declared, “I have a gun and I’ll shoot anyone who tries to hurt my wife and son.” This assertion underscores the ongoing tension and the potential threat perceived by the community, which remains unaware of his full past. The residents of Chadwell Heath are now faced with the unsettling reality of the man they thought they knew, and questions linger about how such a history was kept hidden for so long.
