A man from Llay, Benjamin Matthews, aged 31, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for domestic violence offences committed against two of his ex-partners.

The court heard details of his attacks and threatening behaviour.
The first victim, Jessica Senior, testified that Matthews assaulted her in March 2024 by pinning her to a bed, placing his hands around her neck, causing her to suffer significant marks and bruising.
Despite being arrest in March, the violent acts continued while he was on police bail.
The second victim, Charlie Seal, described Matthews as possessive, controlling, and threatening, including making threats to stab her and her new partner if she left him.
Both victims provided personal statements explaining the profound emotional and psychological impact of Matthews' actions.
The court noted Matthews' criminal history, which includes eight previous convictions for 16 offences, such as a battery in 2014 and breaches of a restraining order in 2015.
His defense highlighted that his behavior may have been triggered by the recent death of his father.
Judge Recorder Anna Price sentenced Matthews to four years imprisonment and imposed restraining orders against both victims for ten years.
