BENJAMIN JONES CAUGHT IN WALLASEY AND MORETON WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SPY CAMERA SCANDAL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Moreton and Wallasey, Benjamin Jones, aged 32, was found guilty of heinous crimes involving the exploitation and illegal filming of minors. The case came to light after a detailed investigation that uncovered Jones’s use of covert technology to invade the privacy of young boys and girls in a bathroom setting.

According to court proceedings, Jones installed a hidden spy camera on the ceiling of a bathroom, which he used to secretly record children as they washed, bathed, and used the toilet. His actions were not only invasive but also deeply disturbing, as he then took to the internet to boast about his illicit activities. Jones openly bragged to other online perverts about how he “got lucky” by capturing footage of his five victims, revealing a disturbing sense of pride in his criminal behavior.

Unbeknownst to Jones, he was communicating with an undercover police officer. During these exchanges, he sent her a graphic photo and a video, further implicating himself in the criminal activity. The police operation that led to his arrest was conducted by the Metropolitan Police based in London, which had been monitoring his online activities.

Prosecutor Christopher Taylor revealed that Jones, who also went by the online alias “Fresh Male 26,” frequented websites where illegal files involving adults and children are shared. The investigation uncovered that Jones initiated contact with the officer through a chatroom, where he openly discussed his use of a “spy camera” to indulge his voyeuristic tendencies. He admitted to enjoying voyeurism and claimed he had been “lucky” that weekend, implying recent successful recordings.

Following their initial online conversations, Jones and the officer continued their dialogue via Skype, where he adopted the username “Dirty Male UK.” During this exchange, he disclosed that he possessed footage of children undressing, bathing, and using the toilet. He also sent an image depicting one of his young victims. The evidence against him grew more disturbing when he later broadcast a video to the officer showing two children, approximately 11 and 12 years old, engaged in sexual acts with an adult.

On March 13 of this year, police raided Jones’s residence on Borough Road East in Wallasey. During the search, they seized his phone and computer equipment, which contained a vast collection of illegal images and videos. Jones admitted to using the Tor browser, a tool that grants access to the Dark Web and helps conceal online activity. The devices contained a total of 637 unique indecent images, including 251 classified as Category A—the most severe classification—along with 220 Category B and 166 Category C images. Among these was a 31-minute video, further illustrating the extent of his criminal activities.

The evidence also revealed that Jones had personally taken 19 videos and photographs of his victims using his phone connected to the spy camera. The material included explicit images and recordings of children in compromising situations. The court heard from the mother of one of the victims, who expressed her profound disgust and heartbreak, stating that Jones’s actions “fill me with disgust and is something I will never comprehend.” She described feeling “physically sick” at the thought of her daughter’s suffering and the long-lasting trauma that such crimes could inflict.

Another parent shared her distress, revealing her daughter’s embarrassment and fear that images of her might be viewed by others, adding to the emotional toll of the case. Jones, who now resides on Macdonald Road in Moreton, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of downloading indecent images, one of possessing such images, one of taking indecent images, and two counts of distributing them, along with possessing prohibited images.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, addressed the court, highlighting that Jones had openly admitted to the police that he “got lucky” with his collection of illicit material, whether boastfully or not. The judge sentenced Jones to two years and eight months in prison. He also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered Jones to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, emphasizing the severity of his sexual interest in minors and the need for ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public.
