CROWN PROSECUTION SERVICE ANNOUNCES THREE PEOPLE CHARGED WITH HUMAN TRAFFICKING OFFENCES
The Crown Prosecution Service announced today that Khondaker Fuad Hasan, Liu Xu Hopkins, and Benjamin Hopkins face multiple charges.They are accused of conspiring to commit human trafficking, in violation of Section 2 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
Additionally, they are charged with conspiracy to control prostitution for financial gain, under Section 53 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
Furthermore, the defendants are alleged to have conspired to transfer criminal property, breaching Section 327(1)(d) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 alongside Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
The charges follow a comprehensive investigation by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit into suspected cases of organised human trafficking and money laundering across seven venues throughout England, including two in Chippenham, and one each in Gloucester, Bury St Edmunds, Reading, Cheltenham, and Ely.
