BEHNAM SALMANIAKBARABADI SENTENCED IN WATFORD FOR SERIOUS UNPROVOKED ATTACK
In a case that has shocked the local community of Watford, Behnam Salmaniakbarabadi, a 48-year-old resident of Grandfield Avenue, has been sentenced to prison following a violent and unprovoked assault that occurred on March 27. The incident involved Salmaniakbarabadi inflicting physical harm upon a woman, an act that the court described as 'serious' and 'unprovoked,' emphasizing the gravity of the offence.During the court proceedings, it was made clear that the assault was so severe that only a custodial sentence could be justified. Salmaniakbarabadi pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm (ABH), which resulted in him being sentenced to 32 weeks in prison. The court also ordered him to pay £500 in compensation to his victim, acknowledging the harm caused and the need for restitution.
Furthermore, the court issued a restraining order against Salmaniakbarabadi, prohibiting him from making any contact with the victim until the year 2031. This measure aims to protect the victim from further harm or intimidation. It is noteworthy that a related charge of threats to kill the same victim was dropped after Salmaniakbarabadi pleaded not guilty to that offence. Additionally, a separate ABH charge involving the victim was also discontinued, with the court focusing on the primary conviction that led to his imprisonment.
This case underscores the court’s recognition of the seriousness of the attack and its commitment to ensuring justice through a custodial sentence. The decision reflects the court’s stance on violent and unprovoked assaults, especially those causing significant harm to victims within the Watford community.
