DESBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ASSAULT IN HUNTINGDON
Barry Thrower, a 37-year-old man from King Street in Desborough, Northamptonshire, has commenced a six-year prison term following his conviction for child sexual assault. The case was heard at Peterborough Crown Court in May, where Thrower maintained his innocence but was ultimately found guilty of abusing a girl under the age of 13 in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, during October 2022. Cambridgeshire Police revealed that Thrower coaxed the young girl into engaging in sexual acts and used a 'pinky promise' to ensure she would not reveal the abuse. Although Thrower denied the allegations, the girl confided in someone else, who then reported the matter to police. This led to his arrest and conviction. Detective Constable Les Ellmer highlighted the significant emotional damage caused to the victim by the abuse. Alongside his custodial sentence, Thrower was subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and was registered as a sex offender. An image of Thrower, in the form of a mugshot supplied by Cambridgeshire Police, accompanies the report. The case underscores the importance of child protection and the legal repercussions for those found guilty of such offenses.
