GORLESTON MAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTAL WIFE MURDER
At Norwich Crown Court, 51-year-old Barry McCarthy was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering his estranged wife, Lorna McCarthy, at their shared residence in Gorleston, Norfolk.
The court heard that McCarthy, who had been separated from Lorna for four months and living independently, became aggressive after learning she had been using online dating services and disapproved.
On the evening she returned home following a social outing, an argument ensued, during which McCarthy attacked and stabbed Lorna, resulting in a fatal injury to her heart.

Describing the attack as 'horrific and brutal,' the judge, Anthony Bate, ordered a minimum term of 16 years before McCarthy can apply for parole.
