BAILEY STUBBS SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR RAPE IN COUNTY DURHAM
A young man named Bailey Stubbs has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 14 years after being found guilty of raping a teenage girl in County Durham.The incident, which took place in December 2021, involved a series of disturbing events that have left a lasting impact on the victim and the community alike.
According to court reports, Stubbs, aged 22 at the time, initially engaged in a conversation with the girl via Snapchat.
The two had been communicating online before deciding to meet in person.
It was during this meeting that the troubling sequence of events unfolded.
The girl, who was under the age of 16 at the time, was subjected to a series of sexual assaults at Stubbs’s residence in Murton, a town within County Durham.
Prior to the assault, Stubbs supplied the girl with alcohol, which may have impaired her judgment and contributed to the vulnerability of the situation.
Once at his home, Stubbs forcibly engaged in sexual activity with her multiple times, despite her repeated protests of 'no'.
The assault was not only sexual in nature but also included violent and degrading acts.
Reports indicate that Stubbs strangled the girl and spat in her face, actions that underscore the severity and brutality of his conduct.
Throughout the ordeal, the girl expressed her desire to leave, but Stubbs refused her requests, claiming he would take her home only in the morning.
Demonstrating remarkable bravery, the girl managed to contact her parents during this distressing time.
Her parents promptly called the police, leading to Stubbs’s swift arrest shortly thereafter.
Stubbs faced multiple charges, including four counts of sexual assault, rape, assault, and false imprisonment.
Throughout the legal proceedings, he denied all allegations.
However, the jury at Durham Crown Court found him guilty of all charges, resulting in his 14-year imprisonment.
The court also ordered that Stubbs be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and issued a restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim.
Detective Inspector Darren Wild from Peterlee CID commented on the case, emphasizing the danger posed by Stubbs.
He stated, “Stubbs is a dangerous offender who showed no regard for the devastating impact his actions would have on the girl.” Inspector Wild praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and expressed hope for her ongoing recovery.
He also reaffirmed Durham Constabulary’s stance that “no always means no” in matters of consent, encouraging victims of sexual assault to report such crimes without fear.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of Stubbs’s actions and aims to serve justice while protecting the community.
