NORTHOLT MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ATTACK
A man from Northolt identified as Awil Omer, aged 39, was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to wounding his girlfriend in a brutal attack.The incident occurred in August of the previous year, where Omer engaged in an argument with the victim.
During this altercation, he assaulted her with her own handbag as she attempted to escape his home.
The situation escalated when Omer forced her back to the flat and then threw a glass table at her, which shattered and caused serious injuries to her hand.
Subsequently, he pushed her to the floor, leading to further injuries.
Omer was arrested and initially claimed that strangers had come into the flat and assaulted his girlfriend, later claiming that she had been fighting with a friend.
He was charged on August 25 and was remanded in custody.
Following evidence and witness testimonies, Omer changed his plea to guilty during his trial at Isleworth Crown Court.
The judge handed down a sentence of three years and two months imprisonment and issued a restraining order to protect the victim upon his release.
Further charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating were left on file.
