EAST LONDON MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE WIFE MURDER AFTER RECORDING ABUSE
Asim Hasan has been given a life sentence after being convicted of murdering his wife, Aaisha Hasan. The court documented that on the morning of 19 May 2022, Hasan carried out a violent attack at their home in Canning Town, east London, stabbing Aaisha 36 times in what was described as a brutal and savage assault.
When police and paramedics arrived, they found Aaisha lying injured on the kitchen floor with heavy bleeding, and she was declared dead at the scene at 07:20 BST.
During police questioning, Hasan admitted to the crime, stating, "I am guilty and you can charge me." Evidence presented in court revealed that the argument had been triggered by disputes over finances, his conduct, and accusations of infidelity, which escalated into lethal violence.
Aaisha had previously confided to friends about experiencing abuse, and had stored images of her injuries, including a black eye and facial bruises, in a dedicated folder called "Hidden" on her phone.
She also sent a WhatsApp message shortly before her death, expressing fear, saying, "he would have killed me," and warning that her safety was at risk.
Recorded evidence included her statements accusing her husband of assault and warning that he might kill her.
Ultimately, the court found Hasan guilty of murder, with Judge Anthony Leonard KC sentencing him to serve a minimum of 21 years in prison.
