ROTHERHAM MAN ASGHAR BOSTAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR RAPE OF TEENAGE GIRL
In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address child sexual exploitation in Rotherham, a man named Asghar Bostan has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving a teenage girl.The incident took place within the town of Rotherham, where Bostan, aged 47 and residing on East Bawtry Road, committed acts of sexual assault against a minor.
According to court records, Bostan subjected his young victim, who was under the age of 16 at the time, to two separate episodes of sexual assault.
These assaults occurred between the years 2000 and 2002.
It was reported that Bostan used drugs and alcohol to manipulate and coerce the girl into staying at a flat in Rotherham, thereby facilitating his criminal activities.
The victim endured these traumatic experiences during her teenage years, which she later reported to authorities in 2014.
Following her report, the case was escalated to the South Yorkshire Police, and subsequently, it was referred to the National Crime Agency’s specialized 'Operation Stovewood' team.
This operation is a comprehensive investigation into child sexual exploitation and abuse that took place in Rotherham from 1997 to 2013.
The investigation has been extensive, with authorities working diligently to uncover the extent of abuse and identify those responsible.
As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement officials have made significant progress.
To date, 35 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Out of these, 18 have faced formal charges, and three have already been convicted of related crimes.
The operation continues to work closely with over 260 victims, aiming to bring justice and support to those affected.
Over 100 suspects have been identified during the course of the investigation, highlighting the scale and complexity of the abuse that occurred in Rotherham during this period.
