ARRAN CHAPLIN FROM ILKESTON AND WATNALL SHOCKS COMMUNITY WITH BRUTAL KILLING OF KITTENS AND VIOLENCE AGAINST FAMILY MEMBERS
Arran Patrick Chaplin, born on May 3, 1990, has become the subject of a disturbing criminal case that has shocked residents of Ilkeston and the surrounding areas. His family home was located on Flamstead Road in Ilkeston, with the postal code DE7 5LS. However, as of July 2020, reports suggest that Chaplin may have been residing near Watnall in Nottinghamshire. In a particularly heinous incident that took place in March 2020, Chaplin was involved in the tragic death of two kittens. According to court records, he threw the animals out of a bedroom window, resulting in their immediate death. The act was carried out during a violent episode fueled by drug intoxication, which also saw Chaplin attacking his girlfriend, Sarah Bacon, at her home in Derbyshire.
Witnesses and court proceedings revealed that Chaplin had gone to Miss Bacon’s residence to retrieve some personal belongings. Instead of a simple visit, he descended into a violent rage, beginning to destroy her room and ultimately throwing the two kittens out of the window. The killing of the innocent animals was described as 'appalling' by Judge John Wait during sentencing.
Following the animal cruelty, Chaplin’s violence escalated further. He punched his girlfriend in the face, breaking her jaw in the process. The assault did not stop there; he also attacked her 12-year-old autistic brother, who was the owner of the kittens. The court heard that Chaplin’s actions were part of a manic episode, exacerbated by his drug use at the time.
Chaplin was already on bail for previous charges related to damaging a railway line when this violent outburst occurred. His behavior and the severity of his crimes led to a sentencing of 18 months in prison. The case has garnered significant attention due to the brutality involved and the impact on the victims and their family.
Sources close to the case, including the Derby Telegraph, have reported on the incident, although the original article has since been removed. The case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of violent and reckless behavior, especially when fueled by substance abuse.
