ARON MAY SOLIHULL POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND HARASSMENT IN BIRMINGHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Aron May, a police constable based in Solihull, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of committing two separate acts of rape. The conviction marks a significant breach of trust and professionalism, given his role within the West Midlands Police force.

May, who resided on Rock Grove in Solihull, was employed as a police officer at Stetchford Police Station in Birmingham. His misconduct extended beyond his official duties, as he allegedly exploited his position to intimidate, stalk, and abuse the children of his partners. These disturbing allegations paint a troubling picture of abuse of authority and personal misconduct.

In addition to the sexual offenses, it is reported that May engaged in a series of harassing behaviors directed at his neighbors. These actions caused considerable fear and alarm within the local community. Among the incidents cited were the poisoning of a family pet and a physical assault on a man who was dressed only in his underwear. Such acts of intimidation and violence further underscore the severity of May’s misconduct.

The offences in question reportedly took place on August 14, 2019, and on another date within the same month. The details of these crimes were presented during the trial at Worcester Crown Court, where May was convicted in April.

Following his conviction, West Midlands Police took swift action, dismissing May from his position in May 2024 after a misconduct hearing. The police force issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism. They stated, “The public quite rightly expect the highest standard of professionalism from our officers and staff and we are determined to ensure that those who breach these standards are held to account.”

Furthermore, the statement clarified that May’s dismissal was directly related to his criminal conduct, noting, “Aron May was dismissed from West Midlands Police in May 2024 following a misconduct hearing which took place after his conviction at Worcester Crown Court for two counts of rape.”

It is worth noting that the investigation into May’s actions was conducted by West Mercia Police, which oversees law enforcement in Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Worcestershire. The case has garnered significant attention due to the serious nature of the crimes and the breach of trust involved.
