NURSE RAPED DRUNK WOMAN AS SHE WAS ASLEEP IN BED AT A HOUSE IN LEEDS
A man named Ardit Cela was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of raping a young woman in Leeds. The court was told that Cela displayed a lack of remorse following the sexual assault on the teenage victim.
The jury found Cela guilty of the crime following a trial held at Leeds Crown Court.
During proceedings, it was revealed that the 28-year-old targeted the vulnerable girl while she was asleep at a local property in 2018.
Despite knowing she was heavily intoxicated, Cela entered her room, undressed, and climbed into her bed.
The young woman awoke to find Cela assaulting her, and despite her protests asking him to stop, he continued.
The victim was left in shock and distress and later confided in others at the house, who then removed Cela from the premises.
Following the attack, Cela traveled by train back to his residence in Staffordshire.
He was arrested after the incident was reported to police.
During the trial, Cela denied the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual.
However, the jury dismissed his explanation and convicted him in August of that year.
During sentencing, Judge Simon Phillips observed that Cela appeared 'complacent and unconcerned' after the victim disclosed the rape.
A pre-sentence report noted Cela's failure to show remorse for his actions.
The judge highlighted the significant psychological harm suffered by the victim as a consequence of the assault.
