ANTONY PARKINSON FROM ROYTON ESCAPES JAIL AFTER BEING FOUND WITH INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Royton, 52-year-old Antony Parkinson faced serious allegations related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children.The incident came to light during proceedings at Oldham Magistrates’ Court earlier this month, where Parkinson appeared to answer multiple charges.
Parkinson, who resides on Hanging Chadder Lane in Royton, pleaded guilty to a total of 18 charges.
These included 17 counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing a significant collection of 94 such images.
The court was informed that the images were stored on his personal laptop, raising concerns about his involvement in the distribution or viewing of such material.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the court opted against imposing a custodial sentence.
Instead, Parkinson was handed a 36-month community order, which requires him to remain under supervision and adhere to specific conditions set by the authorities.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a sex offenders’ treatment programme, aimed at addressing his behaviour and preventing future offences.
Furthermore, the court mandated that Parkinson be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of five years.
This measure ensures ongoing monitoring of his activities and helps protect the community from potential risks associated with sex offenders.
The decision reflects the court’s approach to balancing punishment with rehabilitation, especially in cases where the offender shows remorse and cooperates with legal proceedings.
