CLIFFORD FARRAND FROM ROYTON SENTENCED AFTER POLICE UNCOVER CHILD SEXUAL IMAGE COLLECTION IN RAID
In October 2020, law enforcement officers conducted a raid at the residence of Clifford Farrand, a resident of Buttermere Grove in Royton.During this operation, police seized four electronic devices, including laptops and hard drives, which were later found to contain a significant number of indecent images of children.
The investigation revealed that Farrand, aged 64, had been accumulating these illicit images over a period of approximately five years.
The police uncovered a high volume of such material stored across his devices, indicating a persistent and extensive collection.
The case was brought before Minshull Street Crown Court, where Farrand appeared on Wednesday, August 10.
He had previously pleaded guilty to charges of making indecent photographs of children.
Prosecutor Phillip Hall detailed the severity of the collection, emphasizing the long duration and the large quantity of images involved.
As part of his sentencing, Farrand was handed an 18-month community order, which requires him to adhere to certain conditions and participate in supervised activities.
Additionally, he was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for a period of five years, aimed at restricting his access to children and preventing future offenses.
Furthermore, Farrand was mandated to complete a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement, designed to address underlying issues related to his offending behavior.
The court’s decision reflects the serious nature of the crimes and the ongoing efforts to prevent any potential harm to children in the future.
