ANTON MCPHERSON FROM ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE SENTENCED FOR DOUBLE RAPE IN TAMESIDE

In a case that has shocked the community of Tameside, Anton McPherson, born on June 15, 1990, and currently without a fixed address, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of two counts of rape.

The incidents occurred in January 2019, following a New Year’s Eve celebration held at an address in Ashton-under-Lyne, a town within the Tameside borough.

According to court proceedings, the victim, a 27-year-old woman, was sleeping in a separate room from McPherson during the party.

She was abruptly awakened to find him on top of her, engaging in sexual assault.

Despite her efforts to move him away, McPherson continued his assault, raping her for a second time.

The distressing incident left the woman traumatized, and she reported the attack to authorities.

Following his arrest, McPherson maintained his innocence, denying the allegations and pleading not guilty to both counts of rape.

However, after a trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, a jury found him guilty on Friday, October 23, 2020.

The court subsequently sentenced him to 11 years in prison, with an additional three years on extended license, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision after his release.
