POLICE are preparing to tear apart the home of a convicted rapist where the bodies of 10 women have so far been found.

Anthony Sowell, who served 15 years in prison for a 1989 rape and was a registered sex offender, appeared in court in Cleveland, Ohio, under tight security before being remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Brian Murphy described Sowell as "an incredibly dangerous threat to the public." Authorities discovered the first six bodies last week after a woman reported being raped at Sowell's home.

Investigators found one body in a shallow grave in his back garden, with the rest located inside the house—one in the basement, two in the third-floor living room, and two in an upstairs crawl space.

Since then, four more bodies have been unearthed in the garden, along with a skull wrapped in paper inside a bucket in the basement.

The coroner has yet to identify any of the victims but is working through DNA and dental records.

The six victims discovered last week were all Black women, with five of them strangled.

Deputy Police Chief Ed Tomba stated that investigators had finished digging in the back garden and would begin tearing down walls inside the house to find more evidence or bodies.
