MAN JAILED FOR NON-RECENT SEXUAL OFFENCES
A 34-year-old man has received an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of historic sexual offences, some involving a primary school-aged child.The investigation into Daniel Dixon was initiated after police received complaints in March 2023.
He was promptly arrested and taken in for questioning.
Dixon denied any wrongdoing and was released on bail while officers carried out further investigations.
Subsequently, a second victim came forward, alleging that Dixon had committed offences against them when they were a teenager.
This led to his re-arrest and interview in connection with these new allegations.
The incidents occurred across the Cleveland and North Yorkshire regions.
Both victims received expert support from ARCH Teesside and were kept informed throughout the investigation.
Dixon faced charges in July 2024.
During the court proceedings, he continued to deny the charges.
However, earlier this month, a jury convicted him of two counts of raping a child under 13, inciting a child under 13 to view a sexual act as a juvenile offender, and raping a victim aged 16 or older.
Following the verdict, Dixon was immediately registered as a sex offender while awaiting sentencing at Teesside Crown Court.
