DARLINGTON MAN SENTENCED FOR ASSAULTS ON WOMEN IN COURT
A man from Darlington who has previous convictions for attacking three different girlfriends has been sentenced to a community order after recent assaults. The court was told that Anthony Milburn, aged 23, was involved in several violent incidents with his partners over the last year.
In March of the previous year, he was given a conditional discharge for assaulting his then-partner.
More recently, on September 9 at Teesside Crown Court, Milburn was sentenced for five additional assaults committed between October and February.
His sentences included an 18-month community order with supervision and participation in a 'building better relationships' course.
The court heard that he repeatedly punched and pulled the hair of his two ex-girlfriends during drunken arguments, with the prosecution describing the relationships as characterized by aggression, violence, and control.
Milburn's defense argued that he was increasingly out of control due to alcohol consumption.
He admitted to five charges of common assault earlier in court.
Judge George Moorhouse issued a stern warning, stating that Milburn cannot continue leading his life in a manner that puts people in fear.
The judge emphasized that if Milburn reoffends, he will face serious consequences, noting that these offenses typically occurred when he was intoxicated, and acknowledged that he needs help.
He was also issued restraining orders preventing him from approaching within 100 yards of his victims, who are from Darlington, despite him now living in Ashington, Northumberland.
