ANTHONY KELLY FROM UDDINGSTON FACES JAIL AFTER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES FOUND AT COATBRIDGE POLICE STATION

In a shocking development, Anthony Kelly, a police sergeant based in Coatbridge, has been implicated in serious criminal activities involving the possession of child abuse images and explicit material depicting bestiality. The allegations came to light after Kelly was caught with these disturbing images at the police station, leading to his immediate suspension from duty and subsequent legal proceedings.

Kelly, aged 50, was formally convicted of possessing indecent photographs of children and extreme pornographic images that depict bestiality. The offences were committed while he was on duty, specifically during his role overseeing the custody of offenders at the Whittington Street police station in Coatbridge. The gravity of these crimes was revealed during his court appearance, where he admitted to the charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court last Thursday. The sentencing is scheduled for March, and the case has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The investigation into Kelly’s activities began when he was arrested at his residence in Uddingston on January 29 of the previous year. Following his arrest, Kelly’s employment with Police Scotland was terminated; however, it remains unclear whether he was dismissed or resigned voluntarily after the allegations surfaced. When approached at his mother’s house in Uddingston, Kelly declined to comment, stating simply, “I don’t want to say anything about that, thanks.”

Kelly’s personal life has also been scrutinized, revealing that he and his wife Lynn divorced in 2016, prior to the commission of the crimes. The couple has a son, who is now 20 years old. Kelly has admitted to three specific charges related to his criminal conduct. The first charge pertains to the period between August 18, 2018, and January 29, 2019, during which he was found in possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at his Glasgow address and elsewhere.

The second charge involves the possession of extreme pornographic images depicting bestiality, which Kelly admitted to possessing between January 2, 2019, and January 29, 2019, at the same Glasgow address. These images were described as explicit and realistic, further highlighting the disturbing nature of the material involved.

Additionally, Kelly admitted to sending intimate images of a woman via WhatsApp without her knowledge, consent, or approval. This act was alleged to have occurred on October 23, 2016, at the same Glasgow address. The court also noted that Kelly behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on that date, which could have caused fear or alarm to a reasonable person. The evidence against him included the distressing images of children and bestiality, which were recovered from his phone.

As the case moves forward, Kelly is set to be sentenced on March 5, with the full extent of his punishment yet to be determined. The case has raised serious concerns about misconduct within law enforcement and the safeguarding of vulnerable individuals, prompting calls for strict accountability and thorough investigations into such allegations.
