ANTHONY DORGAN WELLING SEX OFFENDER GUILTY OF NEW CRIME IN LONDON COURT
In a disturbing development, Anthony Dorgan, a 56-year-old sex offender from Welling, has been found guilty of committing yet another heinous act, adding to his already troubling criminal record. Dorgan, who resides on Sutherland Avenue in Welling, was previously serving a three-year prison sentence after being convicted in May of five separate indecent assaults on two young girls in the year 2000. The victims, aged just 10 and 6, were assaulted while under the care of Dorgan’s wife, Patricia, a registered childminder. Despite the convictions and the serious nature of his crimes, Patricia has chosen to stand by her husband, refusing to accept the allegations made against him.His latest conviction stems from an incident involving a 17-year-old girl, which took place sometime between May 31, 1996, and July 1, 1997. The victim, who kept her ordeal secret until September of the following year due to fear and trauma, recounted her experience during the court proceedings. Prosecutor Nick Wood detailed how, during a visit to Dorgan’s home, the teenager was sitting at the dinner table with him when he suddenly expressed a desire to have sex with her. The girl, understandably frightened, refused his advances, but Dorgan did not relent.
Mr. Wood explained that Dorgan grabbed her wrists and pulled her into the kitchen, where he pressed her against the cooker and attempted to kiss her. The girl felt overwhelmed by fear and shock but managed to struggle free and retreated into the lounge, where she sat on the floor. Dorgan then followed her into the room, pinning her to the ground and subjecting her to indecent assault. The assault was only interrupted when other children entered the house from the garden, forcing Dorgan to cease his attack.
Following his previous conviction, Dorgan was mandated to register as a sex offender and was prohibited from working with children for the rest of his life. The court, presided over by Judge Harold Wilson, acknowledged the gravity of Dorgan’s breach of trust. The judge remarked that Dorgan’s guilty plea was a significant factor in reducing his sentence, as it spared the victim from reliving her trauma in a lengthy trial. Dorgan was sentenced to an additional nine months in prison for this latest offense, emphasizing the ongoing threat he poses and the seriousness with which the justice system treats such crimes.
