DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR TWO ATTACKS INCLUDING RAPE AND BONDAGE
A MAN who tied a woman to his bed before raping her was jailed for seven years at the High Court in Perth yesterday.Andrew Wilson, 36, admitted attacking the 32-year-old woman twice in his home in Dunholm Road, Dundee.
On the first occasion, he threw her onto a bed, put a pillow over her face, slapped her, and threatened her with further violence.
On the second occasion, two months later, he raped the woman and forced oral sex upon her after threatening her with a Stanley knife, striking her with the weapon, tying her up, and partially stripping her.
Referring to the second attack, Crown Counsel Simon Di Rollo said the woman was visiting the accused's home when he held the Stanley knife at her throat, threatened her while brandishing the weapon, and demanded to know the identity of a man she was seeing.
Mr Di Rollo continued: "The accused tied her hands and ankles with string which was also attached to the bed.
He put sticky tape across her mouth and when she removed it struck her on the face.
She continued to struggle and scream but when the accused cut her T-shirt from neck to waist she went completely limp as she was in real fear of her life.
The accused then said he was going to enjoy himself and after having intercourse forced her to have oral sex." Mr Bill Taylor QC, defending, said the attack was "very much a crime of passion," committed when Wilson lost his temper after the woman told him she had another man.
Mr Taylor asked the judge, Lord Cameron of Lochbroom, to show compassion, saying "Wilson is now a ruined man who has lost everything.
He recognizes he deserves to be punished.
But at the same time I would ask your Lordship to show the compassion which characterizes Scottish justice in a situation where judges remain free to look at the circumstances surrounding a crime and select in the public interest and in the accused's interest a proper sentence." Lord Cameron told Wilson that whatever passion he had for the victim, he subjected her to two sexual acts during "a humiliating and terrifying ordeal."
