ANDREW TINSLEY CAUGHT IN SHOCKING TOILET SURVEILLANCE IN NORTHERN IRELAND
A married man from Dromore, County Down, Northern Ireland, has been convicted of a series of disturbing sex offences involving covert recordings of men and boys in public and private settings. Andrew Tinsley, whose obsession with male genitalia led him to secretly film numerous individuals in toilet facilities, was sentenced to a period of supervised probation, with strict conditions aimed at preventing any further misconduct. In a case that has shocked the local community, Tinsley's criminal activities came to light after a 14-year-old boy, while urinating in the toilets of CastleCourt shopping centre on January 26, 2019, noticed a man, later identified as Tinsley, holding a mobile phone over the cubicle wall. The young boy's suspicion prompted a police investigation, which uncovered a disturbing collection of recordings.
Authorities discovered a total of 160 videos, all secretly recorded, with 20 of these featuring other young boys. The majority of the footage was captured within toilet facilities, highlighting a pattern of invasive and illegal behavior. Among the recordings was a single video taken inside one of the guest bedrooms at the Coach House B&B, a property owned by Tinsley and his wife. Although this particular clip only showed a guest placing a bag on the bed, the fact that Tinsley had purchased and installed a covert camera in the room indicated a clear intent to spy on others.
Following his guilty pleas to 18 sex offences, Tinsley was ordered to undertake a two-and-a-half-year probation program. The court also imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO), which is designed to restrict his activities and prevent further offending. The judge emphasized that any breach of the probation or the SOPO would result in Tinsley being brought back before the court to face additional penalties.
This case underscores the serious nature of privacy violations and sexual misconduct, especially involving minors. Tinsley's actions have not only led to legal consequences but also raised concerns about the safety and privacy of individuals in public spaces across Northern Ireland.
