SHEFFIELD MAN SENTENCED FOR SECRETLY RECORDING WOMEN IN HIDDEN CAMERA INCIDENT

Andrew Stafford, 28, formerly of Farm View Gardens, Hackenthorpe, Sheffield, was sentenced after admitting to secretly recording multiple women without their knowledge.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on September 16, 2024, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of voyeurism, offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Police discovered that Stafford had secretly recorded more than 8,000 intimate images using a mobile phone hidden in a bathroom.

The recordings were exposed only after he left the device unattended.

Additionally, Stafford has three prior offences from 2014 related to illegal images, for which he received a community order.

Psychological and pre-sentence reports were considered during sentencing.

During the hearing, Stafford showed remorse and mentioned he had not received support in earlier issues.

The court emphasized that voyeurism can carry a maximum two-year jail sentence, but opted for a community sentence focused on rehabilitation.

The court imposed a 3-year community order, a 43-session programme for sexual offending behaviour, 80 hours of rehab activities, 100 hours of unpaid work, and a 10-year restraining order.

A curfew was rejected due to safety concerns.
