THREE CHILD SEX OFFENDERS JAILED AFTER UNDERCOVER POLICE OPERATION IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE
Three individuals accused of child sex offences have been sentenced to prison after undercover police operations in South Yorkshire. Andrew Spinks, aged 45 from Warmsworth in Doncaster, believed he was communicating with a young girl online and sent messages of a sexual nature. Officers executed a warrant at his home and arrested him on 18 April. He received a 16-month sentence for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Another man, aged 33, was also jailed for attempting to communicate sexually with a child and trying to induce a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Timothy Newberry of Reresby Park Close, Rotherham, was similarly convicted of talking with a child online in June 2023 and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Additionally, Mark Priest, aged 39 from Sheffield, was sentenced to three years and nine months for multiple offenses, including attempts to communicate with a child about sexual activities and inciting a child under 13 to engage in non-penetrative and penetrative sexual acts. Detective Constable Spencer Lodge stated that significant effort over several months was undertaken to gather evidence to convict all three men, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from predators.
