ANDREW NUNN FROM STOURPORT-ON-SEVERN AND WESTON-SUPER-MARE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Andrew Nunn, a man with connections to Stourport-on-Severn and Weston-super-Mare, has been convicted of multiple sexual offences involving minors. His criminal activities, which include breaching court orders designed to protect children, have led to significant legal repercussions.

In March 2012, Nunn, then aged 32 and formerly residing in Weston-super-Mare before moving to Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire, was sentenced to four years in prison. The court heard that Nunn was subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that explicitly prohibited him from having contact with young people. Despite this, he deliberately violated the court’s restrictions by befriending boys in breach of the order. During this period, he engaged in inappropriate conduct, including indecent touching and sexual assault on one of the boys.

The case was brought before Bristol Crown Court, where Nunn denied any wrongdoing. However, after a trial held in February of that year, he was found guilty of seven breaches of the Sexual Offences Prevention Order, as well as charges of sexual assault and common assault. Judge Martin Picton delivered a stern verdict, describing Nunn as a “cunning and devious paedophile” who deliberately and persistently flouted the court’s restrictions. The judge emphasized that Nunn’s actions were calculated to offend sexually against children, with the so-called “horseplay” being a mere façade for his predatory intentions.

Judge Picton further stated, “The breaches of the Sexual Offences Prevention Order were in my view deliberate and persistent. You wanted to offend sexually against children, and that you achieved. The sexual touching of (the boy) in the course of supposed horseplay was simply a guise to achieve your aim of sexually offending. You are a cunning and devious paedophile and given the chance you will offend against children in future.”

Following the conviction, Nunn was subjected to a new, indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which aims to keep him away from children permanently. The court also mandated that he sign the sex offender register indefinitely. This decision was reinforced by a report indicating that Nunn poses a high risk of re-offending and of causing harm to children.

Earlier, in January 2009, Nunn, then 28 and living on Hanstone Road in Walshes estate, Stourport, was involved in another disturbing incident. He pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to five counts of sexual activity with a child, specifically touching a 10-year-old girl on her leg under her clothes while she was asleep at a relative’s house. Prosecutor Nicholas Cartwright outlined that Nunn did not persist in the inappropriate touching, but the act was nonetheless serious.

As a result, Judge John Cavell imposed a two-year community order on Nunn and issued a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order. Nunn’s history of offending and breaches of court orders highlight ongoing concerns about his behavior and the potential risk he poses to children in the future. His release is scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2014, and he maintains family ties to Devon, Stourport, and Weston-super-Mare, which continue to be relevant in his ongoing legal and personal circumstances.
