PERTH SEX OFFENDER MITCHELL GETS EXTENDED JAIL SENTENCE FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT
A petrified woman feared she was going to be murdered as her boyfriend strangled her at a Dundee flat.Andrew Mitchell dragged his victim through rooms in the property while repeatedly punching her.
The abuser wrapped his hands around the woman’s throat on December 29 last year and choked her to the point her vision became blurry.
Perth prisoner Mitchell pled guilty to endangering the woman’s life by attacking her.He said the charge was “entirely out of character”.
The court heard Gordon, who has an extensive criminal record, had been recalled to prison and was not eligible for parole until August 2027.Sheriff Paul Brown told him: “You were convicted of a serious sexual offence and there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.”The sheriff told Gordon he must serve three years of an extended five year sentence behind bars.
He will be monitored for two years after his release.
Gordon, of Perth, was also put on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
And he must stay away from his victim as part of an indefinite non-harassment order.
