A man from Oldbury who was responsible for a series of severe sexual assaults on two schoolgirls dating back to 1976 has received a 12-year prison sentence.
During the hearing, Judge Michael Challinor stated that Andrew Lancaster-Madeley, 55, had groomed his victims before initiating what he described as a "catalogue of sex offences." The judge emphasized the significant harm caused to the victims, noting that Lancaster-Madeley's actions exploited their innocence and naivety, leaving both girls markedly harmed.
He highlighted that one victim’s life had been profoundly affected, carrying the emotional burden of the abuse for over three decades, and expressed doubt about her recovery.
The judge added that Lancaster-Madeley deceived both girls by claiming he was merely "playing games" with them.
Despite this, he acknowledged that Lancaster-Madeley fully understood the gravity of his crimes and was aware of the damage caused.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, the judge remarked that Lancaster-Madeley had never challenged the integrity of his victims and appeared genuinely remorseful.
Lancaster-Madeley pleaded guilty to 12 charges, including rape and indecent assault, committed while living in Oldbury between 1976 and 1986.
He was also issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
The court further extended his license upon release from prison by two years, and he was told his residence at Telford Close, Solihull, would be subject to supervision.
