ANDREW GALENEY CAUGHT WITH VILE CHILD AND ANIMAL IMAGES IN LYTHAM
In January 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Andrew Galeney, a man from Lytham, who was found in possession of highly disturbing and illegal images.Authorities uncovered a collection of indecent photographs depicting children being subjected to abuse, alongside extreme pornography that included graphic scenes of sexual acts involving animals, specifically a fish and a chicken.
Galeney, aged 54 and residing on Riversleigh Avenue in Lytham, has a troubling history of similar offenses.
His previous arrest drew significant media attention when he was detained publicly in front of the cameras of the Crimewatch television program, highlighting the severity of his criminal activities.
Back in 2008, Galeney faced a court hearing where a judge expressed frustration over the leniency of his sentence.
Although the judge initially intended to impose a six-year prison term, he was compelled to settle for a 32-month sentence due to legal loopholes that prevented a harsher punishment, especially since Galeney had pleaded guilty to the charges.
At that time, he was living at Beacon Lodge in Ribbleton, Preston.
During that period, he used public computers at two Preston libraries to share and view horrific images involving young boys, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.
Additionally, he utilized an internet terminal at Preston railway station to exchange disturbing fantasies with another paedophile located in Canada.
This international connection was uncovered after the Royal Canadian Police tipped off their British counterparts, leading to his arrest.
Fast forward to the recent case, Galeney pleaded guilty to five charges related to possessing indecent photographs of children, some classified at the highest levels of depravity.
He also admitted to possessing a prohibited image of a child and engaging with extreme pornography.
The police investigation revealed these images when they seized his mobile phones at his Lytham residence.
Prosecutor Pam Smith confirmed that among the images found were Category A photographs, which are considered the most indecent and disturbing.
It was also noted that Galeney had previous convictions of a similar nature and was currently under an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order issued by a crown court, emphasizing the ongoing risk he poses.
Galeney was granted unconditional bail and scheduled to return to Preston Crown Court for sentencing on February 7.
As he left the courtroom, he was visibly emotional, wiping away tears and expressing remorse by saying, “I’m so sorry.”
