ANDREW EVANS FROM SHIREBROOK CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD RAPE IMAGES IN DERBYSHIRE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Andrew Evans, a resident of Haddon Place, Langwith Junction, Shirebrook, was found to possess a large collection of illegal and highly disturbing images depicting child abuse. The incident came to light in March 2021 when police officers executed a search warrant at Evans' home following credible information linking his internet activity to the downloading of illicit material.

During the raid, law enforcement officials discovered more than 500 images that depicted the abuse of children as young as four years old. These images were classified into various categories based on their severity, with 195 images falling under the most serious category A, 162 in category B, and another 162 in category C. In addition to these, authorities uncovered 402 animated images, which are considered prohibited items, and 89 extremely graphic pornographic images involving adult females engaged in sexual acts with animals.

The images depicted both young girls and boys, with the youngest victims being only four years old. Among the material found were also images that involved child rape, highlighting the severity and depravity of the content Evans had been accessing. Police investigations revealed that Evans' internet search history indicated a pattern of seeking out such vile material, suggesting a prolonged period of offending that extended over several years, including during his time in Cyprus.

When questioned by police, Evans, who resides at Haddon Place in Langwith Junction, Shirebrook, admitted to the possession of these images. He made full and frank admissions, acknowledging that he had been downloading this disturbing content over an extended period. His confession confirmed that he was aware of the illegal nature of his actions and that the images were stored on his computer and other devices.

Following his guilty plea to multiple charges—specifically, three counts of possession of indecent images of children, one count of possessing prohibited images, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images—Evans faced sentencing at Derby Crown Court. The judge, Mr. Justice Smith, opted to impose a community order rather than a custodial sentence, citing the nature of the offences and the need for rehabilitation.

As part of his sentence, Evans is required to undergo one-to-one work with specialists to address his offending behavior. He must also complete 200 hours of unpaid community service, pay costs amounting to £635, and attend 40 rehabilitation sessions aimed at preventing future offending. Additionally, Evans was issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for the same duration, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public from potential harm.
