A man from Oldbury, 31-year-old Andrew Cosnett, received a six-month jail term after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and destroy her home.
Recorder Peter Andrews QC noted that Cosnett’s actions had left Samantha Mullings feeling extremely scared amid their on-and-off relationship.
He admitted to scaring Miss Mullings through threats of violence and breaching a previously issued six-month suspended sentence for cannabis production, just eight days before the incident.
It was revealed during the hearing that Cosnett had become aggressive after meeting her at the Londonderry pub.
He left voicemail messages stating, "I'm going to kill you" and "Your house is going to be smashed," which heightened her fears for her and her daughter’s safety.
Cosnett, who was intoxicated at the time, apologized, saying that his threats were driven by alcohol and anger.
His defense maintained that he did not intend to carry out these threats.
The court sentenced him to six months in custody, to run alongside his existing suspended sentence.
