ANDREW BULL SEXUALLY ATTACKS 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN HEYSHAM
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Heysham, Andrew Bull, aged 25, was convicted of sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl while she was sleeping on a sofa in her mother’s residence. The incident unfolded after Bull, who resides on Bowland Road in Heysham, had initially met the girl’s mother at a wedding. Following their meeting, the two exchanged mobile phone numbers, which eventually led to Bull visiting the woman’s home in July of the previous year for drinks along with her friend.According to court proceedings, the evening was spent drinking cider while the young girl peacefully slept on the sofa. The situation took a sinister turn when the woman and her friend left the room briefly to go to the kitchen. Upon their return, they discovered Bull touching the girl’s thigh, an act that prompted immediate action. The women promptly ejected Bull from the house and contacted the police to report the incident.
During police interviews, Bull denied the allegations, claiming that the women were intoxicated and lying about the events. However, subsequent investigations and evidence led to his admission of guilt, with Bull confessing to sexually assaulting the young girl. The case was brought before Preston Crown Court, where the seriousness of the offense was acknowledged.
Mr. David Macro, representing Bull, described his client as a “very limited man” who had experienced an unfortunate upbringing, perhaps implying mitigating circumstances. Despite this, Judge Anthony Russell QC, the Recorder of Preston, sentenced Bull to 36 weeks in prison, a sentence that was suspended for two years. Additionally, Bull was placed under two years of supervision, during which he would be monitored and possibly receive counseling.
Furthermore, the court imposed strict restrictions on Bull’s contact with children, banning him from having any unsupervised contact for a period of five years. To ensure public safety and prevent future offenses, Bull was also registered on the sex offenders’ register for a duration of ten years. Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Ciara Campbell commended the bravery of the young girl, whose cooperation and courage were instrumental in securing the conviction and bringing the offender to justice.
