ANDREW AND DANIEL FRANKISH OF REDCAR AND STOCKTON-ON-TEES HORRIFICALLY TORTURED ENGLISH BULLDOG

In a chilling case of animal cruelty, brothers Andrew and Daniel Frankish, originally from Redcar and later residing in Waterford Road, Stockton-on-Tees, became infamous for their brutal treatment of a defenseless English bulldog named Baby. The disturbing events unfolded in October 2013, but only came to public attention after a crucial piece of evidence was discovered.

Andrew Geoff Frankish, born on October 18, 1993, and his younger brother Daniel Peter Frankish, born on January 6, 1997, were filmed engaging in acts of extreme violence against Baby. At the time, both brothers were living with their mother, Valerie Frankish, who later attempted to justify their actions by claiming that the influence of drugs had rendered her sons mentally unwell.

The footage, captured by Daniel, depicts a horrifying scene where Andrew is seen physically assaulting Baby. He is shown jumping on her, headbutting her, and stamping on her body. In one particularly distressing moment, Andrew is seen standing on the dog and forcefully slamming her onto the ground while laughing uncontrollably. The video also shows Andrew lifting Baby high above his head and then repeatedly throwing her down a set of wooden stairs, causing her immense suffering.

Throughout the footage, Daniel can be heard taunting, saying, “See if we can make it scream any more,” as he films his brother’s violent acts. The dog, clearly terrified and overwhelmed, was subjected to systematic abuse by Andrew, with Daniel’s laughter and commentary adding to the cruelty. The relentless torment inflicted upon Baby was so severe that she eventually became paralyzed, losing control of her legs. Despite her suffering, she was not taken to a veterinarian for treatment, and her condition deteriorated over the following months.

Three months after the abuse, Baby was euthanized due to her inability to move her legs, a tragic end that could have potentially been prevented had she received proper medical care. The horrific incident remained hidden until an SD card containing the footage was found discarded on the floor of a supermarket, bringing the case to light.

The RSPCA inspectors who investigated the case described the cruelty as the most distressing they had ever encountered. The images and videos of Baby’s suffering shocked the nation and highlighted the severity of the brothers’ actions. Despite the gravity of their crimes, both Andrew and Daniel Frankish received suspended prison sentences. They were sentenced to 21 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, and were also subjected to a six-month curfew with electronic tagging. Additionally, they were ordered to pay costs of £300 and were permanently banned from owning animals for a period of 20 years, with no possibility of appeal.

Valerie Frankish, the mother of the brothers, attempted to excuse their behavior by claiming that their drug use had caused them to be “fucked in the head,” but this did little to mitigate their punishment. The case drew widespread condemnation and served as a stark reminder of the cruelty that some individuals are capable of inflicting on innocent animals.
