AMY SAVAGE FROM LURGAN BANNED AFTER HORRIFIC DOG CONDITIONS IN CRAIGAVON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Lurgan and the surrounding areas, Amy Nicole Savage, born on March 1, 2000, and residing on Darling Avenue in Lurgan, Craigavon, was found guilty of neglecting her responsibilities as a pet owner. The incident came to light when an animal welfare officer from Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council conducted an inspection of her property, which she shares with her mother, Andrea Savage.During the visit, the officer discovered a number of dogs living in deplorable conditions. The environment was described as filthy and unsanitary, with hazardous debris scattered throughout the premises. Broken glass, urine, and dog feces were found strewn across the area, creating a dangerous and unhealthy setting for the animals. The conditions were so severe that they prompted immediate action from the authorities.
Following the inspection, a veterinarian confirmed that the welfare of the dogs was being severely compromised by the environment in which they were kept. The animals were subsequently seized by the authorities to prevent further suffering. Since then, the dogs have been rehomed, ensuring they are now in safer and more suitable environments.
Amy Savage was charged and found guilty of failing to ensure the welfare of her dogs and causing them unnecessary suffering. Despite her involvement, her mother, Andrea Savage, was not prosecuted, even though she shared the same residence.
In court, Savage was ordered to pay fines and costs totaling £700. Additionally, she received a ban from owning animals for a period of five years, a restriction that will remain in effect until March 2026. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local authorities to combat animal cruelty and ensure the well-being of pets in the community.
